Acorns to name former Amazon exec as president, to allow crypto investing - CNBC

Acorns Grow, the saving and investing app company that's set to go public through a SPAC deal, will name Amazon veteran David Hijirida as president, CNBC reports, citing CEO Noah Kerner. The announcement is set to be made sometime on Wednesday. Hijirida spent 12 years at Amazon in managing roles for global payments and advertising. He was CEO of digital bank Simple Finance from 2018 until it closed in May. Last month, Acorns hired Twitter executive Rich Sullivan as chief financial officer, ahead of the company's expected public listing. Kerner also told CNBC that Acorns users will soon be able to invest in cryptocurrencies within diversified portfolios. Currently, its website said it doesn't offer cyrpto because they can fluctuate dramatically. "It's a speculative investment, and we don't want to gamble with your money," the website says.
